Here is an example of lighting for a local high school dance. The event was for 900 kids inside a very large gymnasium. MC/DJ/Sound and Lighting by MR DJ Service.

Everyone Loves Cookies

Here’s a great idea from our friends at the Granite Bay Golf Club, how about treating your guests to a late night snack. Watch as your guests enjoy a delicious fresh baked chocolate chip cookie passed with a shot of ice cold milk. A perfect way to end your evening!

How Does the DJ Affect Photographs?

After shooting 30-50 weddings for the past 10 years I would advise a bride that her DJ choice is one of her MOST IMPORTANT decisions. Does a good or bad DJ affect the photos? YES-YES-YES-YES, A MILLION TIMES YES. A good or bad DJ affects the whole event, from your memories, to the guest’s perceptions, to the photos. I feel strongly that a good DJ is EXTEMELY important. They make or break the whole reception. Those amazing photos of guest enjoying the entertainment or those crazy dancing shots are not just going to magically appear. A skilled professional will need to direct your event to make it memorable, fun and with GREAT photos.

How Do You Want to Be Remembered?

How do you want to be remembered? If you want to create a memorable event, try planning from a guest’s prospective. You will need to begin by asking yourself, “What do I want my guests to say after they leave my reception?” You may start by thinking back to a wedding that you have attended in the past. What stood out for you? Was it the flowers, food, venue, weather, dancing, music. etc…? Try to remember what you said to yourself as you left that wedding. This exercise alone will help you to prioritize your planning and budget based on a guest prospective… yours!

When I ask my clients, “What type of wedding day are we going to create?” I often hear words like simple, elegant, classy and fun. Then I ask what do you want your guest to say after your reception, “Wow that really was a simple wedding!” or “Wow, that really was an elegant wedding!” or “Wow that really was a fun wedding!” Taking a guest prospective with regards to planning your wedding day would be the first step to creating a lasting impression.

How do you avoid inappropriate or embarrassing toasts?

I think it was Mark Twain who said, “Better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.” As a professional Emcee and wedding DJ, I certainly do not want to embarrass myself or anyone else in the process. To avoid any potential pitfalls, I am always prepared and well rehearsed. All professionals rehearse their material. I would not encourage any amateur to jump in and “just wing it.” It has been my experience that if you step in front of two hundred people and you are unprepared, you just might end up with some unexpected results.
